International Tourism Day Celebration: A Call For Renewed Patriotism And Volunteerism For Nigeria’s Growth

As the Executive Director of the Tourism Volunteers Network, I am delighted to join the global community in celebrating International Tourism Day. This special occasion provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the invaluable contributions of our dedicated volunteers who have remained steadfast in their commitment to promoting tourism in Nigeria.

Your unwavering belief in our country and your selfless service have been instrumental in showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and warm hospitality to visitors from around the world. Your efforts have not only contributed to the growth of our tourism industry but have also helped to foster a sense of national pride and unity.

I firmly believe that patriotism and volunteerism are the keys to unlocking the full potential of our nation. By working together, we can overcome the challenges we face and build a brighter future for all Nigerians. Tourism, as a major revenue-generating sector in many countries, offers immense opportunities for Nigeria’s economic development. By leveraging our tourism resources and attracting more visitors, we can create jobs, improve infrastructure, and enhance our international image.

To achieve our tourism goals, we need to strengthen collaborations with various stakeholders, including embassies, public and private individuals, and international organizations. By fostering bilateral relations and promoting cultural exchange, we can attract more tourists and position Nigeria as a preferred destination.
We are particularly grateful to the Chinese government for their unwavering support to Nigeria through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the Belt and Road Initiative. These initiatives have played a significant role in the development of our tourism sector by providing infrastructure improvements, capacity building, and increased connectivity.

As we celebrate International Tourism Day, let us renew our commitment to patriotism and volunteerism. Let us continue to work tirelessly to promote tourism in Nigeria and contribute to the overall development of our nation. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and more united Nigeria.

Thank you for your dedication and service.

Long live Nigeria!
